In the Castelo de Vide council, near Marvão and Portalegre; the Quinta da Bela Vista is, in every season, the guarantee of absolute restfullness and communion with nature, in a good country house.
The history of the house itself is one with the story of local development, a titanic fight of men at odds with the wild and unfavourable nature.
It was built in the 30's by Eng. José Custódio Nunes, a pionneer of electricity in Portugal, following the sketch of the famous architect Cassiano Branco. It was in this house that the owner thought over the projects that led to the construction of the Póvoa e Meadas Dam, the first hidroelectric use of an energetic reservoir artificially formed known in Portugal. |
